Consecration Sunday

2020 Stewardship Appeal Letter from the Pastor

Dear Sisters, Brothers and Siblings in Christ,

Stewardship Consecration Sunday is November 15th, and I urge you to plan now in attending this important online service in the life and ministry of Good Shepherd by considering what God is calling and enabling you to pledge in your volunteer and financial stewardship to the church.

During this unprecedented pandemic, when we’ve had to explore new ways of being the church for each other and the world, we wish to encourage a spirit of stewardship not as an obligation, but as a heart-felt motive of generosity, based upon the belief that “God loves a cheerful giver.” (2nd Corinthians 9:7)

Good Shepherd remains abundantly blessed by your physical and financial contribution to our ongoing ministry. Many churches throughout the nation and world are struggling to stay alive. Many have cut back on their programs of mutual care and outreach, or have closed their doors for lack of resources. But we have chosen to create a way in the desert and a path through the wilderness trusting that, with God as our Good Shepherd, we will find our way to a better place than before, and a better awareness of who we are as followers of Christ.

I appeal to you as members, but also to you who are not members yet have felt attracted by the warm and welcoming embrace of this church, its people and programs. In this stewardship appeal, I hope you will appreciate the many wonderful and exciting ways we’ve committed to remain connected to one another and our world in difficult times through online and in-person worship, Bible Study and prayer; through Prayer Shawl, Food Shelf and Migrant Justice ministries; through Holy Hikes, property maintenance, indoor and outdoor fellowships; through Food for Thought, Racism in America and Adult forums; and through the personal visits we share.

As you consider these faithful ties that bind and define us, I pray that you will cheerfully commit to our spiritual development and growth as members, prospective members and friends of Good Shepherd, but mostly as children of God.

Your brother in Christ,
