A Few Event Highlights ~
There is more to a church than the structure that houses our weekly worship. At different times during the year, we may invite special speakers or attend presentations. The RACISM IN AMERICA Forum Series continues on Tuesday, October 22nd, 6:30 pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. An Inside Look at Mass Incarceration by a Black Vermonter, Daimeyon Williams, Director of the Multicultural Youth Program, Spectrum. Recommended Reading: The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander. Sponsored by The Vermont Racial Justice Alliance and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Each forum is a potluck gathering where we invite you to share a dish along with your thoughts. Racism in America is a forum series that hopes to create a safe space where we can speak openly and honestly confront the racial divisions of our past and present with the hope of reconciliation for our future.
The SCHOOL OF LAY MINISTRY meets weekly on Wednesday. Coordinator, Alan Crowley, reports that anyone is welcome to attend, even if not officially enrolled in this special program. Next meeting: Wednesday, October 23, 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Reading: Chapters 13-16 in The Story of Christianity (pp. 131-179), The Imperial Church from Constantine to Monastic and Donatist reactions.
FELLOWSHIP BREAKFAST AHEAD! Members and friends of Good Shepherd gather on the 4th Friday of each month for a hearty breakfast, connection, and conversation. Our next Breakfast is Friday, October 25 at 8:30. We’ll be meeting a Jericho Café & Tavern. Please contact our office if you’d like to join us. We like to reserve ahead as a courtesy to the café.

ALL SAINTS DAY – Sunday, November 3. During worship, there will be a time for candle lighting in remembrance of loved ones. If an immediate family member of yours has died in the past year since last All Saints Day, you are invited to send the name beforehand to Pastor Arnold to read aloud during this part of the service.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT POTLUCK FORUMS at Mount Mansfield Union High School will be held on Tuesdays, September 24th, October 8th, and November 5th, from 6:30-8:30 pm. These discussions will focus on the upcoming 2020 Presidential Elections and the major challenges and issues we face. Guest speakers + good food to share = nourishment for mind and body. Join us.
